SuONOIO info

Posted on August 1, 2010 by alessandro 13 comments

Hello all!

post number one for the blog.

The idea is to use this page to update you on our progress with the SuONOIO.

Both me and Scott (The Harvestman) will post clips, videos ,feature updates etc in the coming days….we’ll use this blog as a place for you to comment and ask questions about the instrument, and being updated on its state.

We uploaded the first two sound clips i received from Scott, the day he made the first sounds with the instrument…i thought it would be interesting to let you hear that, and keep updating with new clips as we make them, in order to see/hear the progress in firmware programming and patch enabling.

There are a few video clips on here already, and here is another quick one:

I’ll try to post something everyday, or as new functions get implemented.

Thanks for all the support !!!

Alessandro

  1. Can you give us a preliminary idea of how this baby will be controlled? Perhaps a hands-only video of how it’s used? I assumed it would be manipulated with patch cables and knobs and such, but I’m interested to know how it’ll work out as you said the SuONOIO will come as-is, with no enclosure.

  2. the SuONOIO is controlled via 7 Knobs , plus an array of 16 patch points, so it’s either ON or OFF. no triggers, buttons or keyboard.
The enclosure was skipped as it would made the instrument much more expensive. However, we are going to have options for a faceplate…more info on this coming as soon as we finalize the design. Thanks!

  3. I don’t really have anything productive to say here, I’m just dropping by to let you know that the music is awesome so far, you were great in NIN and SuONOIO is brilliant.

  4. And now I’m dropping by to say that your awesomeness caused me to spell my name wrong in that last comment. Curse you.

  5. You mentioned an optional faceplate, will this be an additional cost, as I’ve already purchased the Geek package. I was already thinking about the possibility of making an enclosure for mine, and a printed faceplate would make it much nicer.

  6. Derek…more info on how the faceplates will work will be added soon. To answer your question for now, the idea is to give the option to make your own…it won’t come with one. Sorry to be vague, but we are still developing this side of the instrument…

  7. I see it has two sample players and a sample bank. Does it allow users to record/load their own samples, or will it just come with a locked down set of preset sounds? Any “audio in” options?

  8. Sam,
    No audio in options….

  9. Thanks for the blog, will be great to get some “pre-sales support” on the SuONOIO! I’m assuming that, since the unit contains two sample players, that it actually generates no sound on its own, but all of the basic sound sources are samples of your Buchla. Can you confirm/deny?

Great sounds they, are btw, however they are generated…I love “SuONONO short clips”.

How many samples will the SuONOIO ship with? Oh and…can we get that with bananas?
